Medical Services
Pagosa Springs has two family medical clinics that are staffed
by MDs and Nurse Practitioners. The Dr. Mary Fisher Medical
and Urgent Care Center, completed summer 1996, is a joint
effort by the Upper San Juan Hospital district and the Dr.
Mary Fisher Center. A portion of the facility operates as
a family medical clinic and the balance functions as an emergency
center. A heli-pad is also a part of the new medical facility.
Serious emergencies are transported by ambulance or helicopter,
generally to Mercy Medical Center in Durango or San Juan Regional
Hospital in Farmington, New Mexico. A well-trained staff of
professional EMTs provides 24 hour, 7 day a week, on call
service. Pagosa Springs also has 4 dentists, 2 optometrists,
8 chiropractors, 2 physical therapy clinics and natural healing
practitioners.
